Team Extreme do Solita!

Team Extreme at the Last Supper with laser eyes!
Miles, Tommy, Evan, Taz, Vicki, Carl Alex, Zoe, Enya, Anna, Miki & Frankie

So after a very long winter and working super hard over the festive season, Team Extreme were FINALLY treated to a Christmas do this weekend! We went to Solita to sample some burgers bigger than your head, deep fried chicken skin (oooosh) and some very strong and very nice (probably too nice) Godfather cocktails. Give them a go and get your chops round a Big Manc!

Thrifty Thursday: How to customise a beanie

Brightly coloured statement beanies are everywhere at the moment, whether it's indcsn's infamous bobbled wooly profanities or Topshop's neon comic inspired skater style hats. It's also really easy to make one that's totally unique to you and looks bang on trend using Extreme Largeness' iron on patches. You can get 3 for £5 and I can show you how to apply them!

Please seek adult supervision if you're under 16
  1. Choose where you want the patch to be on your beanie. Make sure it's straight, it'll be there forever!
  2. Cover the patch with a tea towel. This will protect the stitching on the patch and the beanie fabric.
  3. Using a high heat, carefully iron on the patch.  Use the steam function on the iron if it has one, this will make more heat and bond the patch to the fabric better. Applying pressure, slowly move the iron from one part of the patch to the other, for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Make sure that all the corners of the patch have been ironed on to the fabric. Iron on for longer if necessary.
  5. Leave to cool, then it's ready to wear!

Wednesday Wishlist

Wednesday Wishlist 20.02.13

  1. Unicorn Bouquet from ThinkGeek - Quite honestly, I still haven't fully forgiven Mr Frankie for not getting me this for Valentine's Day. I have partially forgiven him because we didn't "do" Valentine's Day and it has sold out but it's BOUQUET OF MOFOIN' UNICORNS. Look at how happy the girl is in the product picture, at her desk, letting all the little unicorns frolic around. She's like "hey guys this is awfully inconvenient I'm tryna work here" and they're like "but we're cute little unicorns yeeey." THIS COULD HAVE BEEN ME. Luckily you can get emails when it comes back in stock. As soon as it is, IT'S UNICORN TIME.
  2. Topshop Green Spot Tube Skirt - I spend A LOT of hours wandering around Topshop, and this skirt keeps talking to me every time I'm there. I love their current Comic Girl collection, the Graffiti Tube Skirt is also a favourite (the print is amazing!)
  3. Cat Tapestry Jacket - This is no longer a wishlist item as I now OWN IT, but I felt like it should be included anyway. Made by Where Are You Now Josie which unfortunately I can't find any info about online. I'm very sure I bought a Barack Obama dress off her at Clothes Show 2009 and she has previously had commissioned ranges for Topshop and ASOS. Very happy that this is now mine (after eBay frantic bidding wars)
  4. Jeffrey Campbell Cat Tapestry Shoes - To satisfy my cat tapestry obsession (I also bought a pair of awesome shorts by Kimchi Blue @ Urban Outfitters) I need to complete my get up with some Jeffrey Cambell's. I would probably go for the Beebee design over the massive platform ones, I like the "rocking horse shoe"-esque design and they just look comfier. Also, cats.
  5. Extreme Largeness Poker Chip Necklace - My favourite from the new Rockabilly collection, this gorgeous necklace features little black and red suit charms, tiny Vegas printed playing cards and a real poker chip! All on a chunky gold choker chain, perfect accompaniment for a 50s dress.
  6. Topshop Hi Guys Metal Alice Band - Everytime I see this I want it more! It's completely ridiculous, I'll never wear it, it says HI GUYS on it... it's perfect! I want my head to say HI GUYS!

Extreme Largeness Gothic Collection

Extreme Largeness have just released their Spring Summer 2013 range of handmade acrylic gothic style jewellery. A few statement pieces to add to their already very varied goth range, including on trend inverted cross and skull shamballa necklaces and classic bat wings necklaces with a new twist.

Spider Web Frame Necklace
by Extreme Largeness
This Spider Web Frame Necklace is gothic fashion in a necklace. Carefully put together by hand, a delicate black cobweb frames a purple oval with a bone coloured acrylic skull. All on a purple coloured chain. It's quite a large piece but would look amazing dressed up with a corset and skirt

Flying Bats Necklace
by Extreme Largeness
This Flying Bats Necklace nicely combines the gothic with cute. Three little black acrylic bats that look like they're flying around your neck! Comes on a purple coloured chain, it can easily dressed up or casually dressed down.

Inverted Cross & Skull Tiered Necklace
by Extreme Largeness
This amazing Inverted Cross & Skull Tiered Necklace is the ultimate gothic statement piece. All of the crosses are joined together by hand and little white skull shamballa beads are added for maximum effect. It comes on a shorter black chain so it can be worn as a choker. Also comes with great matching earrings.

Retro Range Run Down

Today Extreme Largeness have put their new range of Retro jewellery online. Premiering at London Edge last weekend, the bold and bright handmade acrylic jewellery pays homage to 80's gaming, comic graphics and Doctor Who. Here are some of my favourites.

Bazinga Necklace
by Extreme Largeness
I don't know anyone who isn't a fan of The Big Bang Theory and we all love Dr Sheldon Cooper's "practical jokes." Featuring his classic catchphrase BAZINGA! this necklace is literally a big bang. I love the primary colours and the big bold brightness of it, it's a true eye catcher and perfect for any BBT fan. Now available online for £9.

Tardis Necklaces
by Extreme Largeness
I've grown up with Dr Who from watching early episodes as a kid to the more recent Ecclestone/ Tennant/ Smith years. So when this little beauty came in I was very happy! The Tardis necklace is made from gorgeous mirrored blue acrylic. What really sets it off is the amazing engraved detail, with the iconic "police box" sign and even the tiny details on the door! All on a matching bright blue chain, it's now online for £7.50.

Pacman & Ghosts Necklace
by Extreme Largeness
This Pacman necklace is probably my favourite. I love the old school pixelated design and the little ghosts. The attention to detail is great, from the chain gap between Pacman and Pinky (yes the ghosts have names!) to ghosts and their real googly eyes! There's also matching rings available so the ghosts can chase Pacman on your knuckles too! Pacman & Ghosts Charm Necklace, £10.50, now online!

Extreme Largeness Heart Name Necklaces

wonky mouth much?
Extreme Largeness
Heart Name Necklace
Personalised necklaces from Extreme Largeness are the perfect gift. A massive success over Christmas, there are so many different combinations and colours to choose from, you can get something made that looks extra special for someone special. Which is why they're also perfect for Valentines Day! What more could you want than a necklace that has been personally created by hand for you?
I have an awesome pink and yellow one saying PONIES which I wear all the time. I wore it to last years UK PonyCon, and got lots of comments from the bronies and My Little Pony lovers. I love the cute bubble font, but you can get sharp rock font for a metal look or gorgeous shiny mirror impact font which looks really bold.
There are some great leopard print variations too, my favourite is the natural leopard print which looks really Rockabilly with red font. Or the green and pink one with pink font for trashy chic (yes, that is a genre, I'm not sure if I made up in my head, thinking Ke$ha meets psychobilly)
ALL FOR ONLY £10! Available now online or in the Afflecks shop!

What I Wore Today

I got this amazing maxi dress from H&M the other day, I was having a casual browse when I spotted it, sprinted a little bit, grabbed it, threw my money at the cashier and ran away. All because it has a cat on it. when I got it home I then realised it has a humongous slit up the front. But it still has a cat on it. So risking looking a little but prozzy-ish to wear something with a cat on it. Worth it.
Also got some gorgeous new liquid lippy from Lush's Emotional Brilliance range. Love these lipsticks because I've never worn anything else like them. It's not glossy but it's not matte, it has a really nice moisturising quality. I like that all their make up is really versatile, you can use this as blusher and eye make up, and the eyeliners they sell look ace in your hair. I got the Glamourous lippy which I've wanted for a while. Plus at the Manchester Arndale shop it's currently HALF PRICE!
Also sporting one of my Extreme Largeness favourites, the Wings Necklace. If I could have everything in gold mirror I would, if I knew it wouldn't result in blinding people with my shininess/ people exploding with envy. It's a huge necklace but avoids being Mr T-esque by being so beautiful.

Pixel Picks

Super retro pixelated graphics are popping up everywhere at the moment. Inspired by 80's nostalgia and 8 bit games, we know party rockers LMFAO are fans and we have seen Space Invaders style pieces in Topshop recently in their Spring Summer range.

Extreme Largeness paid homage to this look last season with their Pixelated Heart Necklace last season which comes in small and extra extra large for the gangsta nerd look.

Also a big fan of this awesome Flip Flop and Fangs Pixel Zombie Skater Dress from Blue Banana

Love the print and it would look ace with the necklace!
