DO THE HARLEM SHAKE!

Team Extreme do Solita!

Team Extreme at the Last Supper with laser eyes!
Miles, Tommy, Evan, Taz, Vicki, Carl Alex, Zoe, Enya, Anna, Miki & Frankie

So after a very long winter and working super hard over the festive season, Team Extreme were FINALLY treated to a Christmas do this weekend! We went to Solita to sample some burgers bigger than your head, deep fried chicken skin (oooosh) and some very strong and very nice (probably too nice) Godfather cocktails. Give them a go and get your chops round a Big Manc!

Domo 23 premiered on YouTube too, more good wigs, wrestling and some beaut dancing to Bimmer from 3:35. Warning: contains all the swears.

2. THIS PICTURE OF JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT
THEM EYEBROWS. Nuff said.

Thrifty Thursday: How to customise a beanie

Brightly coloured statement beanies are everywhere at the moment, whether it's indcsn's infamous bobbled wooly profanities or Topshop's neon comic inspired skater style hats. It's also really easy to make one that's totally unique to you and looks bang on trend using Extreme Largeness' iron on patches. You can get 3 for £5 and I can show you how to apply them!

Please seek adult supervision if you're under 16
  1. Choose where you want the patch to be on your beanie. Make sure it's straight, it'll be there forever!
  2. Cover the patch with a tea towel. This will protect the stitching on the patch and the beanie fabric.
  3. Using a high heat, carefully iron on the patch.  Use the steam function on the iron if it has one, this will make more heat and bond the patch to the fabric better. Applying pressure, slowly move the iron from one part of the patch to the other, for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Make sure that all the corners of the patch have been ironed on to the fabric. Iron on for longer if necessary.
  5. Leave to cool, then it's ready to wear!

Wednesday Wishlist

Wednesday Wishlist 20.02.13

  1. Unicorn Bouquet from ThinkGeek - Quite honestly, I still haven't fully forgiven Mr Frankie for not getting me this for Valentine's Day. I have partially forgiven him because we didn't "do" Valentine's Day and it has sold out but it's BOUQUET OF MOFOIN' UNICORNS. Look at how happy the girl is in the product picture, at her desk, letting all the little unicorns frolic around. She's like "hey guys this is awfully inconvenient I'm tryna work here" and they're like "but we're cute little unicorns yeeey." THIS COULD HAVE BEEN ME. Luckily you can get emails when it comes back in stock. As soon as it is, IT'S UNICORN TIME.
  2. Topshop Green Spot Tube Skirt - I spend A LOT of hours wandering around Topshop, and this skirt keeps talking to me every time I'm there. I love their current Comic Girl collection, the Graffiti Tube Skirt is also a favourite (the print is amazing!)
  3. Cat Tapestry Jacket - This is no longer a wishlist item as I now OWN IT, but I felt like it should be included anyway. Made by Where Are You Now Josie which unfortunately I can't find any info about online. I'm very sure I bought a Barack Obama dress off her at Clothes Show 2009 and she has previously had commissioned ranges for Topshop and ASOS. Very happy that this is now mine (after eBay frantic bidding wars)
  4. Jeffrey Campbell Cat Tapestry Shoes - To satisfy my cat tapestry obsession (I also bought a pair of awesome shorts by Kimchi Blue @ Urban Outfitters) I need to complete my get up with some Jeffrey Cambell's. I would probably go for the Beebee design over the massive platform ones, I like the "rocking horse shoe"-esque design and they just look comfier. Also, cats.
  5. Extreme Largeness Poker Chip Necklace - My favourite from the new Rockabilly collection, this gorgeous necklace features little black and red suit charms, tiny Vegas printed playing cards and a real poker chip! All on a chunky gold choker chain, perfect accompaniment for a 50s dress.
  6. Topshop Hi Guys Metal Alice Band - Everytime I see this I want it more! It's completely ridiculous, I'll never wear it, it says HI GUYS on it... it's perfect! I want my head to say HI GUYS!

Tuesday Shoesday/ Tunesday

Frankie and Mr Frankie came 8th out of 11 teams in the Cornerhouse pub quiz! We won a bottle of Becks between us! Result! We thought we were second to last but I think we got extra marks for my super rad drawings of seals/ hippos/ dinosaurs. Still disappointed in myself for getting the Destiny's Child answer wrong, but now I will always have it in my head that their first single was "No, No, No" not "Bills, Bills, Bills."

Tuesday provides SHOES and TUNES. Tuesday is now EVERYONE'S FAVOURITE DAY.

SHOESDAY
Just saw these badboys on Schuh
Mojito Shoe
by Julian Hakes
I'M SO CONFUSED. How is this twisty piece of "high tech composite material" a shoe?! Don't get me wrong, I am all for revolutionary and conceptual design in fashion and other, but surely something necessary for a shoe is a sole? And yet there it is, being worn and that. They have released their lastest boot concept at London Fashion Week on Friday, I'm assuming Julian Hakes is the only shoe designer who has to release a "shoe concept" and not just say "hey look at the news shoes I did." Assuming they have to be worn to be understood. Kudos Mr Hakes for grabbing my attention this Tuesday, I like your shoes even though they twist my melon.

TUNESDAY

Year of the Glad by Marnie Stern

I heard this for he first time this morning and I like it because she sings like a miscellaneous squeaky animal. Which is always good. I'm going to listen to it daily this week and grow more and more fond, which will work because she has 3 other albums on Spotify for me to treat my ears to.

Manc Monday

This weekend, Afflecks held a charity event to show support for CALM and Thirty One Songs. The compilation album curated by Dave Haslam was released recently, it is a collection of tracks from Manchester artists including Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, Mr Scruff, I Am Kloot, Everything Everything and Elbow. The event involved some awesome live acoustic sets and special guests including Simon Rimmer, Justin Moorhouse and Jennie McAlpine (Fizz from Corra)
Credit Mary Elspeth Moore
Get Thirty One Songs from their website or their store on the 2nd floor in Afflecks. All profits go directly to CALM.

THIS WEEK IN TOWN
Be sure to take a visit to new specialist beer shop Beermoth on Tib St. Offering a wide range of ales, stouts and lagers, I have so far sampled the following
Current favourites are picks from Flying Dog. Not to judge a book by it's cover, but the label artwork is illustrated by Ralph Steadman so I was instantly drawn to them. Also, I am bobbins at reviewing beer.
Open late until 9pm (so you can pop in for a casual browse after work)

Tonight Mr Frankie and I will be publicly embarrassing ourselves by choice, by failing at the Cornerhouse Monday Night Quiz. I say fail, every team gets a prize AND there's pizza, so how bad can it be? Famous last words.
